Blair To Receive $1 Million Annually From New Position At JP Morgan - New InterFaith Foundation To be Set Up

Blair takes position at JPMorgan

By David Wighton in New York

Published: January 9 2008 22:56 | Last updated: January 9 2008 22:56

Tony Blair is joining one of the Wall Street’s best-known banks in what the former prime minister told the Financial Times would be the first of a series of positions he expects to take in the private sector.

Mr Blair, who stepped down as prime minister last year, is to become a part-time adviser to JPMorgan, where he will use his experience and contacts to provide political and strategic advice to the US bank and participate in some client events. Mr Blair’s income from the job has not been disclosed. However, one New York recruitment consultant said it was likely to be more than $1m (£500,000) a year.

Jamie Dimon, JPMorgan’s chief executive, said Mr Blair would be “enormously valuable” to the company. “There are only a handful of people in the world who have the knowledge and relationships that he has.”

Speaking to the Financial Times, Mr Blair said that he expected to agree to “a small handful” of similar appointments with other companies in different sectors.

“I have always been interested in commerce and the impact of globalisation. Nowadays, the intersection between politics and the economy in different parts of the world, including the emerging markets, is very strong.”

Such advisory jobs are popular with former world leaders. Sir John Major, Mr Blair’s predecessor, and George H.W. Bush, the former US president, both became advisers to Carlyle, the US private equity firm.

Since leaving office, Mr Blair, who is believed to have a large mortgage to pay on a house in Connaught Square, London, has joined the international conference circuit. He was paid $500,000 for one speech in China. Mr Blair declined to say how much he would be paid by JPMorgan.

Mr Blair’s move comes a month after Jonathan Powell, his former chief of staff, landed a full-time job with JPMorgan’s rival, Morgan Stanley.

Mr Blair, who is serving as an international envoy to the Middle East, said he planned to launch an interfaith foundation this year and was likely to do some work to help tackle climate change.

In the longer term, he is being promoted as a candidate to be the first full-time president of the European Union by Nicolas Sarkozy, the French president. “I have learnt not to speculate about those sorts of things,” Mr Blair said.

The JPMorgan job was brokered by Robert Barnett, the Washington lawyer who also negotiated a reported £5m advance for Mr Blair’s memoirs.

Mr Barnett said that when Mr Blair stepped down, he was approached by a variety of companies seeking relationships, including “more than half a dozen financial services companies”.

Mr Dimon, who is one of the leading Democrats on Wall Street, said he phoned Mr Blair personally. “I went to visit him and we hit it off.”

He said it was important to both men “to try to make the world a better place and have a bit of fun doing it”.

Brussells Prepares "Joint Action" To Send "Supervised Independence" Mission To Kosovo

BRUSSELS -- Brussels is preparing a document entitled “Joint Action” as a legal basis for sending an EU mission to Kosovo.

It does not for the moment look as if the decision to send a mission to the province will be adopted by the end of the month at the meeting of EU foreign ministers, saz European officials in Brussels.

They claim that the mission is being prepared “very carefully” both operatively, and from the point of view of a decision within the EU’s competent bodies.

The same sources add that it is hard to understand Belgrade’s resistance to the EU mission being sent, and believe that Serbia’s views are now linked more to the question of status. That indeed is why the question of a mission is being linked to the signing of the Stabilization and Association Agreement between Serbia and the EU, primarily because of the ongoing presidential election campaign there.

The sources in Brussels feel that Resolution 1244 is grounds enough to send the mission “as NATO has established, as there is no doubt that the resolution allows the OSCE and other international organizations to be deployed in Kosovo.”

Sources close to EU High Representative Javier Solana have said that the Ahtisaari Plan has not been adopted and is not officially linked to the EU mission. Others, however, claim that “it is true that the Ahtisaari Plan points to the need for an EU mission to Kosovo.”

Such a mission would not have to be deployed in the “state”, but would rather be part of the overall solution that goes hand in hand with proposals of “supervised independence”, claim the sources in Brussels, who add that “it is in the obvious and highest interests of minorities and all communities in Kosovo for a EU mission to come and monitor the application of law, and the activities of the judiciary and police."

"Man From Earth" - Jesus is a Cro-Magnum Man After Being A Pupil of Buddha

"Man From Earth"
Attempts to Regenerate Theme
Of
Simple Paths To Goodness
By
A Supernatural Meta Science Roadmap

From Cro-magnum cave dweller to astute pupil of Buddha to unintentional Good Teacher on a Roman cross, the lead character of Jerome Bixby's Sci-Fi drama, Man From Earth, finds himself reasoning to four college professors the Simple Paths To Goodness and the possibility of mankinds limitless future.

Quickly vacating his position at a South Western college in the U.S. and receiving an impromptu goodbye from his fellow professors, College Professor, John Oldman, unexpectedly purposes a question to his colleagues, "What if a man from the upper Paleo-lithic survive until the present day, what would he be like?".

At first jokingly but then deciding to "play along", the idea of "perfect regeneration in the bodies cells..... a quark in the immune system", answers the how and thus the dialectic group journeys into the meta-philosophical-science that throws everything you've believed out the window.

The beginning of the small group questions can neither confirm nor deny John "Old" "Man"s enigma. Stumbling over pre-historic vampire myths, to dates and landscapes of his terrain, John Oldman, after moving from Sumerian to Babylonian lifestyles, eventually decides to move East, where by chance he meets Buddha and becomes his pupil.

He is then viewed by the group as a special caveman, liar or nut.

Concerned for John's mental health, by TV's The Greatest American Hero star William Katt, a fellow Psychologist Professor drives in to the goodbye party and the Hegelian couch is brought in.

Before his feelings are addressed he reveals he has 10 degrees in all of their fields except for the psychologist. He also does not want to be viewed in scientific labs to verify his claim for fear of smoking men in labs. He is then hypothesized as ,"A man that lives outside of time" which can not be measured. We then get to his emotions.

Pausing in and out of his feelings in regards to when did you know you were a caveman...how do you feel when others die... how do you consider yourself to others...do you remember your father (early lifestyles were Patriarchal thus how do you feel about your mother is left out), Johns answers are quick and intriguing.

The question of faith intertwines Myth, Old and New Testament. Though regarded as "sacrilege", John tells a story about a guy, myth, or Buddha, that decides after 500 years or so to travel to the Mediterranean..becomes an Etruscan..seeps into Rome..sees them as a killing machine and decides to pass the Buddhist teachings in modern form.

He denies the Jesus name, cites it as a medal that was pinned long afterwards.

In regards to the crucifixion and the resurrection, the lessons he learned in Tibet to control and regulate pain, as well as to control his body to simulate death, allows him to vacate his "cave" burial. But, some devotees where hanging outside and saw him...he tried to explain..they were too ecstatic.. and so he fled to Central Europe to get as far away as possible.

Although intrigued and speechless, one of the professors offers his hypothesis,

"Taking along the philosophical teachings of Jesus..Buddhism...with a Hebrew accent...

Kindness...

Tolerance...

Brotherhood...

Love...

a ruthless realism acknowledging that life is what it is...here on earth...here and now...The Kingdom of God meaning goodness is right here or it should be... I am what I am becoming",

charts the viewer the simple path to goodness.

When asked what John (as Jesus) would like for them to know he says,

"Believe in what He (Jesus) tried to teach without the rigmarole...Piety is not what the lessons bring to people, its the mistakes they bring to the lessons".

Crushed, baffled and even the theologian professor driven to the point of tears whether or not this can be, the psychologist threatens John for the third and final time to come clean or be committed.

John states "end of the line...it was just a story".

After much relief the group offers there own goodbyes to John. But the finality does not end there.

In the last few minutes the psychologist finds out, when John Oldman talks to his professor girlfriend, that Oldman is his father who left him in his childhood. The psychologist rejects this but then realizes this as truth but because of a previous heart condition he succumbs to a heart attack and dies. John Oldman, after the paramedics and the police have left, packs up and begins to drive off, but then decides to take his girlfriend professor along to the next destination of his supernautral roadmap to goodness.

A very clever hypothesis that can only be proven or denied by faith, Man From Earth weaves its web to an imagination searching for another possibility of existence, meaning, purpose and future.

Even when asked about mans future his girlfriend asks, "Do you have faith in the future of the race?" John quickly replies, "I've seen species come and go..it depends on their balance with the environment".

Although as an independent film its nonchalant sublime plot cannot hide its intent of new age philosophy to answer mans meaning of life disguising its green awakening initiative.

Using a similar Eastern philosophical background like the upcoming Jesus action-hero film "Aquarian Gospel" set for release in 2009, get ready for your next spiritual rebirth in 2010 with the remake of Logan's Run.

But do not let mans' reason trouble your spirit.

For as I began to write this the Lord gave my awesome wife His scripture to our hearts.

ACTS 17:22 Then Paul stood in the midst of Mars' hill, and said, Ye men of Athens, I perceive that in all things ye are too superstitious.

ACTS 17:23 For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Whom therefore ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto you.

ACTS 17:24 God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

ACTS 17:25 Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things;

ACTS 17:26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;

ACTS 17:27 That they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him, though he be not far from every one of us:

ACTS 17:28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.

ACTS 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device.

ACTS 17:30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

ACTS 17:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

ACTS 17:32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

ACTS 17:33 So Paul departed from among them.

ACTS 17:34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.

The Fire In The Crystal and UN Human Security and Dignity

I hope I wax eloquently as I attempt to add some new thoughts and facts alongside of today's and yesterday's great sleuths Constance Cumbey, Dorothy Margraff and the late Herb Peters on the subject of Javier Solana's The Fire And The Crystal and the 2003 UN Human Security and Dignity Conference.

Originally brought to all of our attention this past Sunday by Constance, I couldn't stop thinking about all of the observations I found.

Interesting to note, I was ready to post a brand new topic, again through the diligent lead and council of Constance (No relation to the 16th Ecumenical Roman Catholic Council :), and curiously in parallel relation to the Fire In the Crystal, but rest assured I will post it here very quickly time permitting. So without further clumsy but thankful introductions let's warm to the fire.

Javier Solana’s 2001 “The Fire And The Crystal” speech and the 2003 UN DPI/NGO Human Security and Dignity conference are both very curious on many, many fronts. There is SOOO MUCH to say about both of these events and it’s players past and present. Although this comment is rather long I’ll try not to stray too far from both topics.

Headed by Mikhail Gorbachov,The Pio Manzù International Research Centre, where Javier Solana did this speech, is a Non-Governmental Organization of the United Nations and UNIDO, which has been operating since 1969 as an institute for the in-depth study of the main economic and scientific aspects of the relationship between man and his environment.

In October of 2001 they held their 27th gathering entitled, “The Fire In The Crystal International Conference”.

Pio Manzù Gold Medals are awarded at the annual event to individuals for their contributions in respect to the Research Center’s main goals and objectives.

That year, Javier Solana, one of many interesting individuals, was awarded The Pio Manzù Gold Medal.

Although the events of 9-11, a month before in which a world in grief and in search of peace and resolutions was the pre-dominant thought globally, appropriate accolades were given to the “Good Doctor”, as Constance has coined, setting the stage for future “Options For Peace” Intervention strategies both physically, mentally, economically and spiritually.

Meta-Science and its relation to mankind was defiant at this conference, such as the topic, Cellular Geometric Patterns of the Universe and its carving into life.

Also, DNA had its voice heard through Evolutionary Biologist Richard Dawkins while viewing Creation from The Gene’s Eye.

And interesting note, Richard Dawkins, at a previous US lecture series, finds himself receiving great applause after he made an anti-religious comment against an anonymous religious group in the Middle East in regards to Creation.

Still, one wonder’s could a variation of “Intelligent Design”, or a variation of science and metaphysics, be ONE of the hooks Javier Solana uses to draw the three prominent global religions together?

Since the Good Doctor is a physicist himself, is this where Javier Solana’s true faith lies?

Another interesting individual awarded The Pio Manzù Gold Medal was Collin Powell. Dr. Norman P. Neureiter, Science and Technology Adviser to the Secretary of State in 2001 accepted on behalf of Collin Powell The Pio Manzù Gold Medal.

The keynote address by James Hillman brings this particular Baconian type of gathering true definition. “Justice and Beauty: Foundations of an Ecological Psychology” is a show stopper. Hillman, literally from the Jungian school, developed the theorem “Archetypal Psychology” or polytheistic myth as psychology. I think we can all see where this was going.

Walking lightly around the shadows of the metaphysics side, “Fire Crystals” are seen as playing an essential part in healing and life extension.

From the mythological lore of Atlantis, “Fire Crystals” are regarded as transmitters and receivers.

Speaking of receiving and broadcasting, a book called “Crystal Fire” details the development of the transistor and its impact on society (telephones, radios and computers). I found that noteworthy.

In regards to Javier Solana’s The Fire and The Crystal speech, four things in particular.

First, I disagree with Javier Solana when he say’s, “Preventing conflict depends more than ever on access to good intelligence”. In my opinion, I believe that “Transparent Intelligence prevents conflicts”, that is, a rich variety of sources to view all sides can discern clearer the issues at hand.

Secondly, his assertion that conflicts are born out of failed states is flawed. In my opinion the “conception of conflicts” arise from the governing failures of its economic corridors, which in essence, affects every working individual.

Thirdly, Javier’s reasons for engagement are off again, when he cites “ethnic and religious differences” <Insert Red Herring Alert here>. Again in my opinion I believe the funding policies of each state are critical in the security and dignity to each of its countrymen and women.

And finally, when he stated that the UN is a “neutral and benevolent instrument” all I could say was, Yeah, Right!

But now it’s 2008.

Things are rapidly changing into the surreal.

Today one can easily see The Pio Manzù International Research Centre courting itself alongside notables of varied affluence such as Hollywood beauty Angelina Jolie.

But does Angelina’s exquisiteness reassure me that The Pio Manzù International Research Centers endeavors, to pursue a harmonius relationship between science, mankind and his environment, will not intrude into my beliefs and my wallet, No, it doesn’t.

So now we fast forward to the UN’s 2003 Human Security and Dignity Conference. This was seriously comically shocking if you can imagine those feelings all rolled into one.

Alfredo Sfeir-Younis, Senior Advisor, Office of the Managing Director, World Bank, who moderated the Sustainable Development in the Context of Globalization (De-territorialisation) session, is noted on page 24 of his bio for incorporating “spiritual economics”. Huh? I did a double take on this and found something else out.

In Kosmos, the leading international Journal for planetary citizens committed to the birth and emergence of a new planetary culture and civilization, his destiny is written in the stars. Fans of Constance will love what his economic vision for Mother Gaia is.

Remember, he was moderating the session of sustaining Mother Earth and fracturing sovereign sates and its borders. You always have to have money to fund a war, but now it is cloaked in humanities last chance for survival into a new age. Blaaaahhhh!

This finally brings me to Javier’s friend, Giandomenico Picco.

Moderating the first and primary thematic session of the conference, “Psychological Aspects of Human Security and Dignity”, Picco’s reasoning that “better practices for enhancing a sense of belonging is greatly needed” diverts us away from history’s lesson and in my opinion the crux of the matter, the spiritual battle for the mind, body soul and spirit of all. These engagements take historical precedent.

But then again maybe I don’t know my history. And maybe I’m just a hopeless romantic. But I believe history already gave us our lesson for attaining a sense of belonging and enhancing Humanities Security and Dignity.

It can found by the brave and courageous men and women who fought against the British in The American Revolution.

Here's a little Common Sense and 51 Reasons To Say No To Global Governance.

"That there are men in all countries who get their living by war, and by keeping up the quarrels of Nations, is as shocking as it is true; but when those who are concerned in the government of a country make it their study to sow discord, and cultivate prejudices among Nations, it becomes the more unpardonable." - Thomas Paine January 10, 1776

Afghanistan: New NATO HR Being Called To Lead "Super Envoy"

A New NATO "High Representative" is being called for to lead a "Super Envoy" in Afghanistan

"Speaking at the recent summit in Edinburgh, Scotland, of countries active in volatile southern Afghanistan, including Canada, the U.S., the Netherlands, Britain and his own, Australia's new defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon said the West has shown a "a lack of coherent strategy...

that fuelled further calls by Canada and others for a "super envoy" to co-ordinate NATO and United Nations efforts in Afghanistan.

A super-envoy is needed to "knock heads and bring together the different elements of the mission -- security, reconstruction, economic development, etc. -- into a coherent strategy," he said.

Britain's Lord Paddy Ashdown, a former politician and military officer, has the skills and "heft" to do the job. "The question is whether he wants it after his bruising battles in Bosnia."

The danger with having a high representative that would do all the co-ordination for both NATO and the UN is that the Karzai government -- which is weak with elements of corruption -- would not be able to learn from their mistakes because somebody else would be there to co-ordinate all the various activities coming into the country," said Alain Pellerin, executive director of the Conference of Defence Associations in Ottawa".

In this Edinburgh article 12-14-07 entitled "Riot Police Posed To Face Protesters At NATO Summit" I found this interesting,

"He (Prime Minister Gordon Brown) said he had just returned from a four-day visit to Afghanistan where he had seen "tangible" progress. "But military power can only ever be part of the solution. We must build on our hard-won military gains and go further to help the people of Afghanistan to provide their own security, governance and economic development.

But Australia's defence minister Joel Fitzgibbon was today reported to be planning to say his country would send no more troops to Afghanistan until European countries such as Spain and Germany step up their commitment.

The meeting involves the eight countries with troops in the south of Afghanistan".

Action in Afghanistan 2008 will be of major major importance this year.

Spain's King Juan Carlos has paid a surprise visit to his troops in Afghanistan. It is extremely rare for heads of state, especially monarchs, to go to war zones, but as Commander-in-Chief, the King was happy to review Spanish soldiers at their base at Herat in western Afghanistan. He also spoke by radio to troops elsewhere in the country, wishing them a good 2008.
