WOW!!!!! Leana!!!!!

"Professor Oldmeadow (seen at left) gave two talks: “The Spiritual Dimension of the Environmental Crisis” and “Frithjof Schuon on The Transcendent Unity of Religions”. His talks were thought-provoking and generated debate and further inquiry.

The National President of the TS in Australia, Linda Oliveira, gave a presentation on “The Seal of The Theosophical Society as an Ensouled, Living Organism”. The Convention public talk was given by Brian Parry, Supporting Lecturer of the TS in Australia, on “Mysteries and Mystics”.

A number of workshops were held during the week. They included ‘Soul Nourishment’, ‘The Practical Application of Our Three Objects’, ‘The Masonic Tradition’, ‘The Role of Tradition in Modern Society’, ‘Yoga – A Practical Philosophy’ and ‘Experiences of Consciousness – Mind and Brain’. The Convention also featured a number of short talks and a symposium."

I missed this!

Thanks again,

johnny

Similarities between Theosophy and Islam

Transmission of Knowledge

There are several similarities between Theosophy and Islam. One of them is the notion that knowledge of the deeper aspects of life has been transmitted, from generation to generation, by a succession of prophets or teachers. The Quran says: "It is the duty of the prophets to transmit knowledge" (Al-Maida, Chapter 5, Verse 67). In another passage it clarifies the duty of the prophets: "We have sent you a prophet from among yourselves, who teaches you Our will and purifies you and teaches you knowledge and wisdom and teaches you what you did not know". (Al-Baqra, Chapter 2, Verse 151).

Johnny,

Glad that worked for you. The original article I am recalling by memory, the author was attempting to find a way to harmonize Islam and the New Age together. It may have been at this same site, not sure anymore, hopefully I printed it. I will keep checking
