McChrystal: I Think Afghanistan Leaders Of The Insurgency Like Osama bin Laden Need To Be Brought To Justice

General Stanley McChrystal, 55, is the top US and NATO commander in Afghanistan.

SPIEGEL Interview with General Stanley McChrystal

'Killing the Enemy Is Not The Best Route to Success'

SPIEGEL: What was the key to locating al-Zarqawi and Saddam Hussein at that time? And what can we learn from that regarding Osama bin Laden who, after eight years, has still not been caught?

McChrystal: Operations like that are very similar to police work. It is intelligence, it is very, very good analysis and at the end of the day it is persistence, it is staying with it. Someone like Osama bin Laden clearly feels that if he surfaces he is likely to be arrested or killed. So just the hunting has a certain good effect. As you remember, we found Saddam Hussein in a hole in the ground. He was not leading a resistance from that hole.

Bruce Lee: The First Chinese Anti-Global Governance Celebrity. Chinese And Judaic Relations? Not A Chinaman's Chance

Januray's newsletter takes a look at what the upcoming year 2010 will hand the New Strategic Concept of NATO, Transatlantic Relations and Global Governance in regards to China.

A most notable lens to view this through is, via hands down, the Twentieth Century's most prominent Chinese Philosopher and Artist, Mr. Bruce Lee.

Today, in the 21st Century, Mr. Bruce Lee stands as the paradox of 20th century Chinese and Judaic relations. A taboo subject only mentioned behind closed doors as light conversation, it alludes to the heavy and controversial real politik between Western and Eastern relations.

It is this history that came to a climax at the death of Mr. Bruce Lee. It was this uncertainty even after the release of the causes of his death that submersed a deeper concilement of politics on the worlds theatrical and political stage.

As the 2008 Beijng Olympics affirmed, China will always remember their ironman, Mr. Bruce Lee. And most importantly will never forget Western historical affluence in Asian culture particularly as the West Entered China's Most Inspiring Dragon.

This remembrance has had a devastating affect towards a new peace and security strategic concept...

The EU—Unstoppable!

The EU—Unstoppable!

October 19, 2009 | From theTrumpet.com

The European Union is on a roll. Any resistance to its undemocratic methods is treated with impugnity.

“I will not sign Lisbon Treaty, says Czech President,” headlined the Times on October 13. “Germans seek to oust Czech President Vaclav Klaus over EU treaty,” declared the headline in the Sunday Times a week ago. Then on Saturday, the Telegraph ran an article under the headline, “Vaclav Klaus says it is ‘too late’ to stop Lisbon Treaty.”

Quite an about-face in just five days.

Whether the latter headline was a direct result of the threat from Germany is not a matter on which the popular press is reporting. Yet, given past results achieved by Teutonic political bullying within the European Union, one surely does not have to use much imagination to figure it out. As Klaus himself said, virtually declaring defeat in his one-man stand against the EU monolith, “I do not consider the Lisbon Treaty to be a good thing for Europe, for the freedom of Europe, or for the Czech Republic. However, the train has already traveled so fast and so far that I guess it will not be possible to stop it or turn it around, however much we would wish to” (Telegraph, October 17).

All that is now lacking, following the earlier capitulations by Ireland and Poland, is for Vaclav Klaus to allow his trembling hand to sign the document. Then once again it’s game, set and match to Berlin/Brussels on the most recent European imperial project, the ratification of the Lisbon Treaty.

Germany's Oktoberfest Shelters Voters Under Fire Intoxicating Angela To Global Governance E.U. Lead

Since 1978, I've observed, comprised and assembled various color pallets of today's Global Governance which still finds most commentators aloof on various rabbit trails that The Trust wishes all to find. This weekend should have pointed many to the obvious, but, like many rabbit trails it wasn't pieced together...so... lets try this again.

In Germany, a very very important election occurred.

An election marked by the ghost or apparition of Osama Bin Laden's entourage in various videos.

"Leave Afghanistan or lose Oktoberfest".

A "No Fly Zone" over Oktoberfest was issued.

Does this sound familiar?

This tactic has been used many many times before and The Trust knows that, have we forgotten already?

Go back to Thursday when the Prime Minister of New Zealand said to NATO that time lines for Afghanistan troop withdrawal are now being considered and planned.

"It's a mistake", implores Defense Secretary Robert Gates.

NATO’s New Strategic Concept, A Strategic Opportunity For Israel

August 21, 2009

Baltimore
Matthew Mark Horn
Special to the Jewish Times

Several years ago, we created AJCongress’ NATO-Israel Program based on the changing international security dynamic in the post 9/11 world, coupled with the fact that Israel as a Western democracy should be afforded the opportunity to become a NATO partner or member regardless of its geography. We forged a unique partnership with the Atlantic Forum of Israel, then-headed by Dr. Uzi Arad, who currently serves as Prime Minister Netanyahu’s national security advisor, and its executive director Prof. Tommy Steiner. We are the first and only Jewish organization to undertake a project that advocates for an upgrade in Israel’s formal relationship within NATO from that of a Mediterranean Dialogue participant (currently there are 7 participants) to that of a full-fledged NATO partner.

In early July 2009, I attended the launch of NATO’s new Strategic Concept held in Brussels which laid the foundation for how NATO will conduct itself over the next decade (the last one is ten years old and now dated). As the then-Secretary General de Hoop Scheffer stated, [the purpose of the new strategic concept is to] “determine how our needs and capabilities can be tailored to meet the challenges now really important for the security of our allies.” This year-plus long drafting process of the new Strategic Concept provides us with the opportunity to seek a change in NATO’s partnership structure that allows democracies such as Japan, Israel and Australia to become partners and perhaps even members. As NATO prosecutes a war outside of its traditional Euro-Atlantic area of operation in Afghanistan, it is only fitting that new partnership requirements for democracies outside Europe are incorporated in the new Strategic Concept.

NATO's New Strategic Concept: The Group of Experts on the new Strategic Concept met with Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen at NATO Headquarters for the first time and attended a special North Atlantic Council meeting.

At the NATO Summit in Strasbourg/Kehl on 4 April 2009, Heads of State and Government (HoSG) tasked the Secretary General to develop a new NATO Strategic Concept. This exercise should be completed by the time of NATO’s next Summit which is expected to take place in Lisbon in late 2010. The Summit also tasked the Secretary General to convene and lead a broad based group of qualified experts who will lay the ground for the new Strategic Concept. This will be done with the active involvement of the North Atlantic Council (NAC).

Iran Proposes World Wide Control System Aimed At Eliminating Nuclear Weapons - P5+Germany Not Amused - Russia Stands Behind Iran

Iran Nuclear Proposal Rejected As Russia Dismisses Sanctions

President Obama had hoped to pressure Iran by building international consensus on tougher sanctions.

By David Montero | Correspondent 09.11.09

As the United States rejected a new proposal for talks presented by Iran this week, Russia has broken ranks sharply with Washington, warning that it will not support the US call for tougher sanctions on the Islamic Republic.

Russia’s statement comes as a setback for President Barack Obama, who had hoped to build an international consensus about sanctions before the United Nations General Assembly meeting in two weeks.

Russia’s stance, and its veto power as a member of the United Nations Security Council, makes such a consensus look unlikely.

Iran on Wednesday handed over a much-awaited proposal for new talks to the so-called P5+1 group – the five permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, plus Germany.

The contents have not been made public, but the independent investigative news outlet, ProPublica, obtained and posted a copy of the document, saying, “[T]he new proposal is silent on Iran’s own nuclear program…[it] reiterated many of its previous ideas for talks while scaling back specific requests made in previous proposals.

The Washington Post summarized the gist of the proposal:

Iran is not prepared to discuss halting its uranium enrichment program in response to Western demands but is proposing instead a worldwide control system aimed at eliminating nuclear weapons, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s top political aide said in an interview Thursday.

Washington immediately rejected the proposal, the Post adds:

Obama: Baseless, Ignorant And Hateful

By Michael Hoffman

We often tend to forget that "politician" is an old English word for whore. Some of us still cling to the hope that an American president will be an exception to that denotation. After eight years of the bloodthirsty simian secret society pharaoh George W. Bush, I figured that anybody would be an improvement.

Barrack Obama promised change and to some he seemed like the real McCoy, or rather the real Hussein: peace, prosperity, health care, and to top it off, justice in the Middle East.

Yesterday President Obama was in Egypt to give a "watershed" speech to the Muslim world that was intended to demonstrate that the long, dark night of Israeli hegemony over the United States had come to an end, and that America was initiating a new era marked by fairness to both sides.

Let's be real. Ending Israeli hegemony and being genuinely fair to the Arab nation of peoples which the Orthodox rabbis denominate as "Amalek," would require a revolutionary break with Holocaustianity, the universal, de facto state religion of the Western world.

Global Unified Belief System Curriculum Receives Lifeline From The Lama

Dalai Lama Offers $100,000 to University Religion Department in Florida

Tuesday, May 26, 2009

MIAMI — The Dalai Lama has offered $100,000 to help an imperiled religion department at a Florida university after receiving an e-mailed plea for a letter of support from a longtime acquaintance on the faculty.

"He responded with this astounding, astounding offer," said Nathan Katz, a professor in the Department of Religious Studies at Florida International University. "I fell off my chair."

The department is one of three at FIU slated to close in response to a $27 million cut in state funding to the public university.

Katz said he e-mailed the Dalai Lama's office last month after finding out the program was in jeopardy and asked for a letter of support.

FIU received a letter from the Dalai Lama's office this week offering $100,000 and his help fundraising to prevent the planned closure of the department.

G-20, NATO, the EU—and Prophetic Reality!

April 6, 2009 | From theTrumpet.com

The three summits that presented the Obama administration with its first exposure to the big-time arena of international relations have tested its mettle and found it wanting.

Ostriches really don’t bury their heads in the sand. However, the age-old adage that willful ignorance is like an ostrich with its head in the sand prevails. In fact, it fits the current scenario of the new American administration struggling to find its feet in three forums in which it was patently outgunned, outmaneuvered and outshone by the hard-bitten Franco-German team.

Munich … Peace for Our Time?

Munich … Peace for Our Time?

February 9, 2009 | From theTrumpet.com

The 45th annual Munich Security Conference was different to all the others. But will the outcome produce peace for our time?

It was the infamous declaration that British Prime Minister Chamberlain made upon his return from negotiating a peace settlement between Great Britain and Nazi Germany that originally connected the city of Munich with the concept of world peace.

Landing at Heston Airport on his return from Munich, Sept. 30, 1938, Chamberlain waved the piece of paper containing the signatures of both himself and Hitler, the document known as the Munich Agreement, declaring his belief that it would secure “peace for our time.”

Less than one year later, on Sept. 3, 1939, two days after the Nazi invasion of Poland, Britain was at war with Germany, a war that was to engulf the globe before the Allies secured their final victory over the Axis nations in 1945.

Seventeen years later, Ewald von Kleist, a German publisher, founded the Conference on Security Policy in Munich, in 1962. Delegates at the first conference included government ministers, members of parliament, senior representatives of the armed forces, scientists and journalists. The idea was to create a transatlantic forum focused on the major foreign- and security-policy challenges facing the Western alliance in an endeavor to work toward securing “peace for our time.”

With only a couple of exceptions, the Munich Security Conference (msc) has convened annually ever since.

The Honest Steinmeier Wishes To Broker New Global Security Architecture At Munich

If this was a dead end topic, we would not be reporting on it. -Johnny

Germany's Steinmeier Calls for New Global Security Architecture

Steinmeier and Iranian Speaker Of Parliament, Larijani, will meet again in Munich This Weekend

"The Cold War has been over for 20 years - which means it is high time that we start breaking out of that way of thinking, a way of thinking that sometimes accompanies us like a long shadow out of the past," he said, during opening speeches at the Munich Security Conference....

"The old dream of a shared security area stretching from Vancouver to Vladivostok, which has been discussed in this very room multiple times, is not just going to fall from heaven. I fear it will remain a dream if we seek its fulfillment through a legally binding treaty, with long years of negotiations and the uncertain outlook of ratification in more than 50 parliaments."

Transatlantic Leadership For A New Era

Speech by NATO Secretary General, Jaap de Hoop Scheffer at the Security and Defence Agenda,

followed by a Questions and answers session

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Let me first of all thank Giles Merritt and the SDA for organising this event. Brussels these days does not lack think tanks, policy institutes or political foundations. But the SDA has always had a particular place in my affections. I appreciate all the work that the SDA has done, under your leadership Giles, to raise interest in, and improve our knowledge of, defence and security issues, not just in this city but well beyond. As those issues become more diverse and more complex, the creative policy thinking and bridge-building roles of the SDA become ever more necessary. NATO will continue to support you, and work closely with you.

Pirates Expose Shocking Shifts in Naval Power

December 17, 2008 | From theTrumpet.com

Revelations about three nations have emerged from events off the Horn of Africa.

Pirates are making headlines. And though their criminal acts might seem to belong to a dim past, they’re revealing some shocking truths about our 21st-century world.

That they are exposing the staggering lack of willpower in the world’s most powerful navy, we have already written. Stephen Flurry recently wrote about an astonishing example, in which Somalia pirates captured an oil tanker bound for America. The U.S. Navy knows where the ship is; it even has UN permission to chase it down. On top of that, as a retired Marine general put it, “the Navy would love to do it.” Only trouble is, he says, “there’s no stomach for it right now” (emphasis mine throughout).

The pirates are hearing that message loud and clear. They have since audaciously attacked an American cruise ship, one of 30 vessels they’ve gone after in just two months. They know good and well America has “no stomach” to stop them.

Biblical prophecy says this is exactly what would happen.

America’s broken will, however, isn’t the only prophetically relevant revelation emerging from these acts of piracy. It is also worth evaluating what is happening within two other nations in particular: Germany and Britain.

Germany’s response has been almost precisely opposite to America’s. The whole nation is up in arms. It is charging to the forefront of a European Union move to use piracy as justification for dramatically stepping up its naval power.

Last week, Europe’s foreign ministers launched the EU’s first-ever naval intervention, called Operation Atalanta. It is a huge step forward for the European Security and Defense Policy, a major instrument in giving Europe a unified military identity distinct from nato. In fact, Operation Atalanta will take over some of the anti-piracy duties that nato is already doing.

For some time, the German military has wanted to expand its authority to hunt pirates on the high seas, but has been hindered by legal constraints. Operation Atalanta circumvents these legal obstacles, since Germany’s constitution allows for such military activity within the context of a “system of collective security.” “The ‘robust’ operation that the German Navy has been hoping for, for so long, is now within reach,” German-Foreign-Policy.com says.

Berlin has approved deploying German warships to support the effort, granting them permission to fire in order to repel attacks. Still, military officials say Atalanta’s mandate is not broad enough, and they are asking for more: the authority to aggressively pursue pirates. These hawks have plenty of supporters in the German government. “Merely escorting ships is not enough. We must actively fight the pirates and above all take away their ships,” said Bundestag Defense Committee member Rainer Stinner. “There has to be a serious option to attack,” said Ulrike Merten, who heads the committee. The press and public agree. “Nearly unanimously, the media [are] calling for the Bundeswehr to operate as ‘robustly’ as possible against the pirates” (ibid.).

The situation is showing just how much the German public has overcome its skittishness about taking military action.

We’ve been watching Germany milk this same stratagem for years. Using a unified Europe as its cloak, and pointing to rising global security needs—some of which have been of its own making—Germany has gradually restored its legitimacy as a military power. You will be able to continue tracking this trend in the time ahead, as reasons for Berlin to expand its armed forces and increase its deployments multiply.

The prophetic significance of this development won’t be lost on our regular readers, nor even on students of Germany’s military history.

But perhaps most astonishing—particularly in light of Britain’s military history—has been the United Kingdom’s response to the Somalian piracy.

It appears Britain couldn’t be more excited about the prospect of joining Europe’s effort to fight Somali pirates, particularly since a Briton will be captaining it. “This initiative clearly demonstrates the EU’s determination to combat these criminal acts,” said Rear Adm. Phil Jones, whom the EU tapped to command the action. “It is also something of a privilege for the UK to be asked to lead such a milestone operation and it is an important step in reassuring the international shipping community that something is being done to protect our maritime interests.”

Here are a few reasons why that statement is so appalling.

Britain has already been fighting pirates off the coast of Somalia. Its frigate hms Cumberland has been deployed there under the nato umbrella. But it and three other nato vessels will now be replaced by the EU’s Operation Atalanta, including Britain’s hms Northumberland.

In essence, then, Britain is exchanging one frigate for another, expressly for the “privilege” of sailing for the first time under an EU flag, subject to EU political control!

In lieu of backing the Atlantic alliance, Britain is supporting the EU’s vainglorious effort to forge its own military identity—one that European leaders have openly stated is intended to check the power of Britain’s strongest ally, the United States. The UK acts like it can play both sides, but this approach is destined to hurt it in the end.

Yet here is where the story gets far worse.

Britain can hardly spare an extra ship. hms Northumberland is one of only seven British warships capable of deployment right now.

This frigate is actually being diverted to the Horn of Africa for Operation Atalanta—a mission to benefit Germany primarily. Before this came up, hms Northumberland was ready to head for the South Atlantic for six months—in order to secure the Falkland Islands.

Guess what happened the last time Britain reduced its naval presence there? It withdrew the ice patrol vessel hms Endurance from the seas around the Falklands in 1982. The Argentine military took the opportunity to invade. The Falklands War resulted.

The Falklands are a highly strategic sea gate guarding passage of sea traffic between the South Pacific and Southern Atlantic oceans and the Antarctic. Britain has claimed them since 1690 and defended its claim multiple times, in keeping with a prophecy that the end-time nations of Israel, of which Britain is a main one, would “possess the gate of his enemies” (read The United States and Britain in Prophecy). But prophecy also showed that a disobedient Britain would lose those gates (e.g. Deuteronomy 28:52). And so it has, one by one. Consequently, we have been watching for the Falklands to fall for some years.

Now, since the warship that Britain was going to send there will be tied up on an EU mission, it is sending a Royal Fleet Auxiliary landing ship with a crew of civilian sailors. The Telegraph reports, “Royal Navy sources have said that the ship would be able to do little more than protect itself in the event of an emergency.” Easy pickings, in other words, should anyone decide it’s finally time to pry the Falklands from British hands.

That Britain would choose the German-inspired piracy mission over protecting the Falklands is ghastly. “What on Earth are we doing putting EU flag-waving ahead of our own security priorities?” the Tory shadow defense secretary Liam Fox wrote in the Telegraph. Excellent question. “It is outrageous that the British government would ever diminish the protection of our strategic interests in order to pay homage to the politics of the EU,” he also said. A stunning example of Britain fulfilling a prophecy we spoke of a couple of weeks ago.

How far Britain has fallen from the days of Pax Britannia! The Royal Navy once forged the British Empire—it extended and defined British power around the world. Under Lord Salisbury, the law mandated that it be larger than the world’s next two largest navies combined!

Today’s Royal Navy is like that of the past only in name. At the time of the Falklands War, Britain had 65 frigates and destroyers. After years of defense budget cuts, today it has a mere 22, only a third of which can participate in operations at any one time. “The Royal Navy has been pared to the bone,” a senior naval source told the Telegraph. “In any shooting war with a serious enemy the Royal Navy would cease to exist within a few weeks.”

That the European Union is encouraging and hastening this process, exploiting the resources of the Royal Navy in order to extend its own military footprint, is especially insidious. The inevitability of Britain’s severance from the EU is becoming plainer all the time—an event biblical prophecy strongly indicates and which we have spoken of often. It appears Britain could well lose the Falklands while trying to please Europe—only to then lose Europe as well.

Those Somali pirates are only chasing after short-sighted, selfish gain. But their crimes are uncovering so much that biblical prophecy has directed us to watch for: a weak-willed America, a weakened Britain that will be stripped of its possessions, and a German-led Europe growing in military strength at their expense.

Valkyrie - German Resistance Suspense Thriller Is Coming

Need to promote latest film leads to apologies

In 2004, the Hollywood star made an infamous television appearance on the Today show in which he angrily sounded off about the “pseudoscience” of psychiatry and described host Matt Lauer as “glib”. The encounter prompted 10,000 viewer emails to the network.

Four years on, Cruise returned to the programme to cleared the air.

He said of the original interview: “I went back and looked at it and it was interesting… you know, it’s not what I had intended. Looking at myself, I thought, ‘Man, that came across as arrogant.’ It was one of those things where you go, ‘Ok, I could have absolutely handled that better.’ I didn’t communicated it the way that I wanted to communicate it. That’s not who I am, that’s not the person I am, coming across that way.”

On his controversial support for Scientology, the 46-year-old actor said he wouldn’t be talking about during movie interviews: “I’ve been a Scientologist for 25 years [but] I think there’s a time and a place for it because things can get misunderstood and twisted.”

The actor is promoting his latest film, Valkyrie, the true story of a German plot to assassinate Hitler.

Tom’s mouth is still on cruise control

VANCOUVER - Tom Cruise is clear on one thing: He is an entertainer.

The mercurial A-list actor admitted as much Monday morning on NBC’s Today Show, the scene of his infamous meltdown on live television. Well, one of his infamous meltdowns.

During a dark and aggressive rant about actor Brooke Shields’s use of anti-depressants three years ago when she was diagnosed with postpartum depression, Cruise turned on Today host Matt Lauer, castigating him for his ignorance of the evils of psychiatry and declaring him “glib.”

Consumer Alert: Scientology Quackery
Scientology is evil; its techniques are evil; its practice is a serious threat to the community, medically, morally, and socially; and its adherents are sadly deluded and often mentally ill… (Scientology is) the world’s largest organization of unqualified persons engaged in the practice of dangerous techniques which masquerade as mental therapy.

- Justice Anderson, Supreme Court of Victoria, Australia, quoted at What judges have to say about Scientology
Comments & resources by ReligionNewsBlog.com

Lauer said Monday that Today normally receives a few hundred e-mails after a celebrity interview, but about 10,000 people wrote in about the Cruise conniption.

Cruise returned for Round Two on Monday and was more contrite than crazy, at least during the interview. But if he was trying to present a more sane version of himself while promoting his new film Valkyrie, he probably shouldn’t have wandered on to Today’s live set before his interview to hijack the news segment of the program.

Cruise stood beside co-hosts Lauer and Meredith Vieira and began reading from the teleprompter as both Lauer and Vieira mentioned on-air that his behaviour was “bizarre.”

The world’s news services are surprisingly sympathetic to Cruise. Asked how people responded to his savage antics during his 2005 appearance on Today, Cruise launched into a rambling, sweaty response that would have induced squirming in a brass monkey.

Reuters reported it thusly: “After looking at it, I really thought it’s not what I intended. I thought in looking at myself that I came across as arrogant,” Cruise said. “I absolutely could have handled that better.”

The actual quote went more like this: “You know, I mean it was, I went back and I looked at and I thought you know . . . it was interesting. And I think that, I thought at first you kinda go how and why and I thought about it a lot, obviously, and I was, it was, a subject matter that’s important and now it’s being debated by the public and that’s where it should be. But actually after looking at it I really thought you know it’s not what I had intended, in looking at myself, that I thought that came across arrogant. That’s one of those things where you go, ‘I could have handled that better.’”

That in answer to the one question he knew he would face before going on the air. In rambling so, Cruise leaves the impression that he knows what he thinks, but doesn’t know how to hide it very well, an odd failing for an actor.

Cruise fared better on a visit with Jay Leno last week, but Leno didn’t mention Scientology, psychiatric meds or Brooke Shields.

Germany Threatens Ireland

October 20, 2008 | From theTrumpet.com

Germany’s attitude toward Ireland reinforces the anti-democratic EU process.

In a harbinger of things to come, the Irish have aroused the ire of the European Union’s most powerful member nation, Germany.

First came Ireland’s rejection of the Lisbon Treaty. Recently, in the wake of the global financial meltdown, came its breaking of EU rules by acting unilaterally to protect its own financial institutions.

These moves are causing the true nature of the beastly European Union to emerge. The message is becoming clear: Either bow the knee to Baal in Brussels, or suffer what one German politician termed last week, “disastrous consequences”!

To the most careful watchers of the EU, this comes as no surprise. It merely reinforces the claim of some of the more astute observers, such as Rodney Atkinson in his book Fascist Europe Rising, that the development of the EU has paralleled that of the Third Reich. As the Trumpet has long forecast, the results will be even more devastating than those of the Nazi/fascist era.

NATO Can't Find Osama Bin Laden, So Now They Will Target His Money - The Drug Barons, The Laboratories And Oh Yeah, A Few Poppy Farmers

(Richard Pohle/The Times)

Troops have been reluctant to act against struggling poppy farmers (but you know they're going to be the big causalities - Johnny)

A Note From Michael Ruppert

-- What in the World Is Happening With the Global Drug Trade?

Over the last few months I have tracked major seizures of cocaine both in the Pacific and the Gulf. Three separate seizures involved semi-submersibles of small submarines that don't go under the water but sink flush with it to eliminate radar signatures. (Doesn't work well for satellite surveillance.) Each of those seizures was 3,000 metric tons or more. Then I found that the DEA had recorded earlier seizures this year totaling more than 4,000 tons. The last time I checked (2000), the U.S. was consuming only 6,000 metric tons of cocaine a year. What gives? There is no evidence I know of to suggest that consumption has grown. It's counter intuitive. I don't have the contacts I used to but I can tell you that in L.A. there is virtually no powdered cocaine to be found and it's been that way for months. There is a little crack out there but I suspect that may be crystal meth -- "crank". Meantime Mexico has erupted into a virtual drug-defined civil war with hundreds, if not thousands, murdered.

Then today Matt Savinar sends me this story about how the world's heroin supply is disappearing:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/thereporters/markeaston/2008/10/map_of_the_week_the_mystery_of.html.

Someone is stockpiling heroin. Heroin is the base drug of morphine. The opium poppy, papaver somniferum, is the source of opium, the most commonly used, and most effective natural pain killer in man's history (insert big pharma here - Johnny). Heroin is made from opium. I fear that opium and heroin have become new hot commodities and there is no way that that much opium/heroin could be intended for "recreational" use -- or even to supply addicts. It seems that someone is banking heavily on a lot of people being in a lot of physical pain. -- Good job Matt, as usual. I can't explain what's happening wth cocaine. Is it being hoarded until the price goes up? Not likely, because no one will have money to buy it in just a few short months. But then again, if it's dirt cheap, say $75 a gram...

I repeat that by itself, all the cash from the global drug trade is not relevant to the current economic crisis. I last estimated all cash generated by illegal drugs at aruound $600 billion a year. By itself, the Lehman bankruptcy was $750 billion or so. Then came the bailouts and the trillions in equity that has been destroyed.

I don't have time to do the research but I'm sure we'll find out what it means soon enough I suspect. This all smells so... , so... BUSH.

Maybe we'll see all the drugs turn up right after the markets bottom. That could squeeze a few final dollars out of the corpse.

NATO Troops Given New Mandate To Attack Heroin Drug Barons In Afghanistan

British troops will hunt down heroin drug barons and their opium-processing laboratories in Afghanistan for the first time in a new strategy designed to sever the flow of drugs money to the Taleban.

The new strategy represents a change in operations for the 50,000 international troops serving in Afghanistan, which produces 90 per cent of the world’s heroin.

NATO Clinches Deal for Tougher Afghan Drug Action

NATO defense ministers reached a deal over controversial plans to launch direct attacks on the thriving drugs trade in Afghanistan, which the US says helps fund the Taliban insurgency raging in the country.

Ministers overcame resistance to the plans from several NATO states -- notably Germany, Italy and Spain -- by accepting that any attacks against opium laboratories would be coordinated with the Afghan authorities.

"There is a formal agreement between the NATO nations to fight drug trafficking," a diplomat confirmed as defense ministers met in the Hungarian capital Budapest for a two-day meeting to discuss issues ranging from the war in Afghanistan to Georgia's NATO membership bid and piracy off the Somali coast.

Israel will become a full strategic partner with NATO by 2010. The problems with Israel and NATO as a “Partnership”

Photo: Herzliya Conference 2006

Although many heavy hands are pushing for a strengthened “Partnership” with NATO this is as far as it gets under the old NATO. With no case against Iran and pressure from Israeli’s to not become a “full member” under the current NATO ideals, the old NATO is putting on its walking shoes and heading out the door. But what characterizes a partnership from say a marriage?

Well for starters, “no accountability” of ones actions. How many jilted spouses have seen their lover go off on a tirade to find itself naked in bed with someone it doesn’t really know and then have to send apologies and flowers to fall back in favor with the family. Is this the kind of partnership Israel wants? Now lets opposite that scenario with a real marriage.

A real member marriage is a covenant before God to uphold all its declarations of faithfulness in sickness and in health till death due us part. All parties adhere to each other’s desires and needs. It’s not one-sided or prone for spontaneous out of body rants and experiences. But is this the real reason Israel does not want to fully marry into NATO?

The real reason is the current NATO is not the type of man to bring home to momma. So the question is what type of man does Israel want in NATO? Does Israel need a stronger man to bring home the oil from Iran, I mean the "bacon". Is NATO not sensitive enough? Is NATO not masculine enough?

In this day in age of modern relationships divorce, infidelity, abuse and death are far too common. Israel should re-think its priorities or it may soon be in a relationship it wished it never started in the first place.
